Hip Hip Hooray!!!! Its mini donut day! August 10th from 10-12p.m.
Okay, we know, we had one of those already in July…but it was AWESOME!!! So we felt we needed to do one more before that dreaded back to school time was upon us!
Mark your calendars, gas up the car, and make sure you have this one planned out. We know some of you were out of town last time, but 150 of you managed to get here, and this time we want to make it even better!!!
Who says gluten free isnt awesome…we would have to disagree *while handing you an amazing hot mini donut to prove our point!!!
Remember the days of running down to the local gas station and grabbing a donut that melts in your mouth?
How about a camping weekend with mom and dad, or grandma and grandpa, and opening up a bag of those cake donuts or donut holes that were just the icing on the camping trip cake? I do!
I also remember the feeling I had in the pit of my stomach, after going gluten free, standing in front of a display case, staring at rows upon rows of that glorious donut goodness and realizing that there was a distinct possibility that I would never wrap my hands around a warm, melt in my mouth, donut again.
When we opened up Mixin’ It Up, our goal was to recreate those food memories for you, and your family, and do it Celiac Safe so there was no worry EVER, about your family getting sick.
We knew to make that dream come true, donuts had to be a part of the menu. Deep fried, sink your mouth into, memory provoking donuts has been our mission. We can say with these donuts being our Number 1 summer seller, we are pretty sure you love them as much as we do!
Stop in June 7th for National Donut day and enjoy buying 6 donuts and getting 6 free! Or stop in anytime all summer long, and be ready to sink your teeth into the best deep fried GLUTEN FREE donuts in all of Minnesota! Remember if you live to far away, we overnight ship these amazing donuts as well!
When one thinks of an autoimmune disease, they dont usually align that word with celebration. Typically, I agree, however there are times when perhaps celebrating is not only appropriate but frankly needed in the face of life’s journey and challenges.
May is Celiac awareness month, and for this one month, the light of Celiac and autoimmune disease in general signs just a little brighter and it gives a platform to use to educate people on the challenges, symptoms, struggles and triumphs of Celiac disease (yes there are some joys, like not feeling sick all the time once you know what you are eating is hurting you).
More people are getting diagnosed with Celiac, and as we all know, many Americans live with undiagnosed Celiac disease and suffer without knowing or understanding what this disease is doing to their bodies.
When we started the gluten free journey in our own world, in our family, few people had really heard of Celiac, and even worse, most people thought that Gluten Free was some sort of fad and buzz word. While it has taken some time and A LOT of education, more and more people are understanding what the disease IS and what it is not.
It is not made up, it is not something that can be “taken lightly” and it is not something that you can “have just a little of” (no you can not have just a little gluten in something you will get sick!)
As the month of May comes to a close, and the battle for many lives on day after day, we wanted to take a moment and remind you of a few things. The most important is that you do not battle alone. Across the state there are more and more Celiac safe facilities that are working to make sure your food is safe. There are communities of people who are battling the same things day in and out as you are, and there is continuously more awareness around what Celiac and other autoimmune disease are and do our bodies.
Most importantly: there are people who care, really care, just come in to the bakery and you will find people always on staff more than willing to share a smile and a listening ear (sometimes some advice).
We must keep fighting the battle of awareness for our kids, grandkids, family members and ourselves.
Finally, there are many things to be grateful for, because in the moment Celiac disease is frustrating, but it doesn’t have to be the definition of our life… (it is not the explanation point, only a comma in life’s storybook we are living) we still and always get to chose the kind of person we are, the kind of life we life and the gratitude in our hearts, and the joy, kindness, and compassion we get to share from our life experiences on to others.
Battle on Celiac Disease warriors, Mixin’ It Up Gluten Free Bakery, and others like us are here not only as a place to provide you with safe and healthy (and tasty!) food but to link arms with you and remind you, you never have to battle alone. There is support, and there is hope…Always!

Happy New Year Everyone! As we close out 2018 and embark on 2019, we tend to look back at the previous year and remember all of the good times the year has brought us. One thing that we like to do here at Mixin’ It Up, is look back on all of the wonderful people and families that we have met over the past year, learning about our customers and hearing the stories that you all share with us.
It brings true joy and happiness to our hearts to hear the stories that you all have to share with us and how Mixin’ It Up has helped you, your family or someone you love.
We not only take pride in the work that we do and the products we provide to our customers, but we also LOVE looking back on the stories that you all have shared with us and seeing the impact we have had on our community.
Sometimes in the midst of the holiday craziness, we don’t always get the chance to hear these stories not because we don’t want to hear them, but because we are in the kitchen baking the days away making the best possible products for our customers both in store and those who place orders with us.
The one thing we have tried to invest into our customers is time. Time to hear their stories. Time to work with them to offer them a variety of products that can and do fit just about any type of special allergy need or preference. We want you to know that we strive to do our best, and to be the best to each customer who calls our store or walks through our doors. Why you ask? Because YOU matter to us and we want serve you to the very best of our abilities.
Before we plunge into 2019, we would love to hear from you. If you have a story about your Ceiliac journey and how you came to find Mixin’ It Up, or you have had a positive experience with us, we would love to read your stories. If you have a story or a positive experience with Mixin’ It Up or the owners/staff that you want to share with us, please leave a comment below this post, or leave us a comment on our Facebook link to this post.
Thank You all for an amazing 2018! Without you, Mixin’ It Up wouldn’t be possible. Thank you for all of your trust and support over the last two years. We hope there will be many more to come.
Let’s step through the door of 2019! Happy New Year!
Every Year the snow starts to fly, the Christmas trees go up, and the holiday music is playing on the radio, and in our hearts…. and it can only mean one thing…COOKIE TRAY TIME!!!!
Our absolute favorite time of the year, ugly Christmas sweaters and all, we hand made over 12,000 cookies for you and your families holiday enjoyment.
Each of us has a favorite, whether is Molasses (Lisa our star Sat employee) Peanut Butter Blossoms (Johns favorite) Russian Tea Cakes (mine and Melissa’s favorite which may or may not be eaten by the handfuls and pocketed in cheeks throughout the day…dont judge!) each of our cookies are made from a special recipe, with one purpose in mind, to bring our family favorites to your family and to show your a holiday blessing from us.
Make our days a little merrier and order yourself a Cookie Tray, or a holiday pie, and spread the holiday cheer!
Every year Mixin’ It Up chooses several different families in Minnesota, that you our customers nominate, and blesses them with holiday pies.
We all know someone who has fallen on hard times. Maybe you know someone who just got diagnosed with Celiac disease, and are struggling to figure out the holiday season. What about a mom who is single and trying to make ends meet. Perhaps a family member who is dealing with an illness that makes the holidays harder to do get through all the baking.
We are asking you, our customers and friends, to nominate families who could use an extra step of cheer in their holiday this year. We would love to partner with you to make this happen for some of our local families.
We are asking from you, please email us their name (and we would also love to hear if there is a story you would like to share as to why they are being nominated). You can go on Facebook to tag people, send us a private message or even give us a call. Our hearts desire is to bless those in need and to partner with you in doing it! What a great feeling for this, the most magical time of the year!
Lets make someones season better, and a lot tastier! We will chose winners on Tues Nov 20th, so now is the time to get nominating!!
